Terrible waffle.

It is way too dense and the top and bottom are not crisp at all, so it's more like a pound cake with faux waffle patterns. Plus it is just very bland. No taste whatsoever.

Why can't Taiwanese people make a half-decent anything Western? Terrible pizzas. Terrible burgers. Terrible hot dogs. Terrible waffles. The list is endless. It's enough to make me want to move back to New York. The choice is to live in New York and have bad Chinese food and or live in Taipei and have bad everything else. Tough choice.

Or maybe I should just move to Tokyo, where they seem to have mastered every type of cuisine.

By the way, this place is constantly PACKED with young girls. There's the occasional boyfriend in the crowd (i.e. me), but it's a definite chick place. There's an hour wait every time I've walked by. Why the wait? Ironically, it's because they have "great waffles".... *Shakes head* It's kind of analogous to how Joe's Shanghai in New York is constantly packed because of their "great soup dumplings" (they're not great, not even by a long shot).

Sometimes you just have to get in the car and drive about an hour south of town and sit in a filthy Waffle House and look out the window for a while.
